MAYOR & COUNCILLOR FEES

This Notice of Motion caused much debate.

These debates commonly come up each year when a fee rise is due (a quick google on the topic shows how often this is news in many Councils)

Most Councillors do approx 30 - 40 hours per week for their community and do not work for the fees received.

However because of the size of the fee, this is why most Councillors also have to also work to afford their mortgages and living costs. Many attend local fund raising events and give back to their communities at fundraisers.

The fees adopted by the Council for the 2017-18 year are as follows:

Councillors for the period 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018 at $28,950 payable monthly in arrears, and
The Mayor for the period 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018 at $84,330 payable monthly in arrears.
