This was voted through for public exhibition and comment and will come back to council at the August meeting with public comment.

Section 252(1) of the Local Government Act, 1993 (the Act) requires that all councils adopt a policy concerning the payment of expenses and provision of facilities within the first 12 months of each term of a council.

Section 253 of the Act requires the draft policy to be placed on public exhibition for 28 days.

The proposed draft Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy has been developed using the model template policy provided by the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The format of the proposed draft policy is different to the former Northern Beaches Council Policy for Payment of Expenses however there are no changes to the intent of the policy, the amounts allocated to reimburse expenses or the provision of facilities to councillors.
