Before you Donate

You need to read this first...

  1. WHO CAN MAKE A DONATION?

    • Individuals who are on an Australian electoral roll

    • Companies that have an ABN

    • The following rules and regulations apply to all donations, whether they are made by individuals or companies.

  2. WHO CAN'T MAKE A DONATION?
    PROHIBITED DONORS:
We cannot accept donations from the following people:

  3. REPORTABLE DONATIONS:
Any donation over $999 is a "reportable donation" - which means the electoral commission and any member of the public will know the name of the donor and the fact that they donated to us. There will be a form you will need to complete down the track but we will provide assistance with this. Please note this reportable donation total is accumulative. If someone buys a ticket to an event for $100, then an auction item for $850 then raffle tickets for $60, then this accumulated amount of $1010 is considered a reportable donation

  4. CAPS ON DONATIONS:
The cap for both individuals and companies for the 2021-2022 Financial year is $6700. Please note again that this cap is accumulative and doesn't have to be a one off donation. https://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/Funding-and-disclosure/Political-donations/Caps-on-political-donations

  5. TAX DEDUCTABILITY:
Any donation from an individual over $2 can be claimed as an income tax deduction, but only to an amount of $1500. e.g If someone donated the maximum amount of $6700, they can only claim $1500 as a tax deduction. https://www.ato.gov.au/non-profit/gifts-and-fundraising/in-detail/fundraising/claiming-political-contributions-and-gifts/.
Please note that this only applies to pure donations. If you are receiving something in return such as a raffle ticket or an auction item, then you can not claim tax deductability on that component. We encourage any donor to obtain their own individual tax advice.

6. ANONYMOUS DONATIONS:
Definitely no anonymous donations allowed - if a donor's identity cannot be confirmed within three days of receipt, all funds will be returned to their account.
