Family Walking On the Beach

INTRODUCING

Blake Dyer

“I want the Northern Beaches to continue to be the best place for my children to grow up and the best place for me to continue living my life. “ – Blake Dyer

WISH LIST

  • Adequate infrastructure

  • Sustainable development

  • A strong and united voice

Blake is an accomplished Environment and Planning Lawyer and a member at Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club where he and his family successfully ran ‘Duke’s Café’ for many years.
Blake wants a council to make fair and transparent decisions based on whole and united plans, rather than fractured ideas. He wants to see Sustainable development matched by adequate infrastructure and wants council to have a strong and united voice.

A FRESH START FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

The Northern Beaches are infused into Blake Dyer’s genes. He’s a fourth generation resident, born and raised on the beaches with no plans to leave.

He did leave once, for a while, on an exchange to America as a college athlete. However life for the northern beaches boy took an unusual twist when he ended up as a cheerleader.
But then again, that just epitomized Blake’s determination to diversify his skills, give anything a go and do it well.

He’s certainly cheering loud and clear now. Having always recognised the Northern Beaches as a whole community, he is delighted one council will now represent it. It’s why he’s stepped up to be a candidate for the Your Northern Beaches Independent Team.

Blake ran the Duke’s Cafe located in the Freshwater SLSC and is the club’s patrol captain of Patrol 21. He’s also an Environment and Planning Lawyer and has previously used his expertise to work with Manly Council’s legal team. This experience gave Blake an excellent grasp of council procedure and a healthy respect for the role of the elected council.

A relaxed and easygoing communicator, Blake is used to engaging with the community at grassroots level. After all, nothing opens up a conversation more than sharing a cuppa. It’s that sort of open communication he wants to see council achieve, excellent customer service and open consultancy to gauge the mood and needs of the residents. After all, apart from the beauty which lured his family to the area, it’s the people Blake likes the most.

He has long regarded the safe government seats throughout the beaches as a deterrent to community needs and is keen to be involved in a fresh new start. He’s determined the Northern Beaches Council will provide the flexibility and ability to achieve what State and Federal governments cannot or won’t.

Blake wants a council to make fair and transparent decisions based on whole and united plans, rather than fractured ideas driven by personal or political agendas. He believes the potential of a unified voice unleashed on the community will provide the infrastructure and sustainable development his beloved beaches deserve.

As a professional, armed with an excellent grasp of council procedure and respect for the relevance of office, Blake baulks at being called a professional politician. Running his own business and always putting his family first has taught him that decisions should be based on merit and not agendas and leadership requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability.
